Roy Gene Sparks

Roy Gene Sparks, 75, of Frazeysburg, Ohio, passed away at 3:15 pm on Sunday, January 29, 2012, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Zanesville.  He was born on June 17, 1936, in Marietta, a son of John Jacob and Mary Helen Erb Sparks.  He was a graduate of Marietta High School, Class of 1960 and was a veteran of the U. S. Army serving in Korea.  He was a drywall hanger and finisher and enjoyed golfing, fishing, quilting and hunting.  He was a member of American Legion.

On February 26, 1962, he married Wanda Lee Burdette who survives with 3 sons and 3 daughters:  Roy Gene Sparks, Jr., Gretchen (Steve) DeFrank of Columbus, Jacinda (Robert) Koski of Frazeysburg, Roy Gregory (Jody) Sparks of Frazeysburg, Stevan Jaye Sparks and his fiancé Tahana of Waxahachie, TX, Stephanie Kaye (Chris) Heaven of Florida; 12 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren; 3 sisters Kathryn (Walt) Voshel, Janet Weppler and Sandra (Ronald) Kendal and 2 brothers:  Robert and Marion Neville all of Marietta.

He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers, Larry and William Gene Sparks, and sister Arlene Sparks, stepmother Wanda Sparks and stepfather Robert Neville.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday (Feb. 1) at 1:00 pm at McClure-Schafer-Lankford Funeral Home with Pastor Randy Small officiating.  Burial will be in Burnt Hill Cemetery with full military services.  Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday afternoon after 2:00.
