Roy Edgar McCammon

Roy Edgar McCammon passed away peacefully on February 7th, 2024 at 87 years young in Beverly, Ohio at the Muskingum Valley Nursing and Rehabilitation center with his family by his side.

He was born in Woodsfield, Ohio on October 5th, 1936. Going on to attend The Ohio State University from 1954 to 1958 graduating with a Bachelors of Science in Geology. While attending Ohio State he met his wife Mary Thorniley and moved back to her hometown of Marietta, Ohio in 1961.

He went to work for the Ohio Department of Transportation until retirement and then worked part-time for the City of Marietta. Roy also sat on the board of directors for the Washington County Chapter of the American Red Cross, a member of Valley View Baptist Church, and a member of Trout Unlimited. He was an avid fly fisherman who would often travel to Montana and West Virginia to fish the local streams. Known for his giant Dahlia’s he would tend by his garden on his downtime.

Roy will deeply be missed by his wife Mary M. McCammon; children Sheryl Corp, Mike McCammon, Jodi McCammon; grandchildren Jenifer County, Eli Corp; great grandchildren Kevin Corp, Ethan McAtee, Emma County, and Maddison County. He was survived by 4 sisters. In addition to his parents Charles McCammon and Mildred McCammon he was preceded in his death by Glenn McCammon.

A memorial of his life will be held at McClure Schafer Lankford Funeral Home at 11:00am on Wednesday, Feb. 14. Family will greet friends at the funeral home before the service from 9 until 11. Messages of sympathy may be sent at www.Lankfordfh.com.
