Russell D. Smith

Russell D. Smith, 70, of Marietta, passed away Thursday, April 23, 2020.  He was born February 12, 1950, in Morgantown, WV to the late Vernon D. Smith, Sr and Betty Williams.  Russell graduated from Warren High School in 1969, had served time in the Army National Guards, and retired from RJF, International.  He enjoyed his family and was very proud of them, enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, playing bluegrass music with his band Tunnel Hill, and classic cars.

On November 16, 1973 he married Rose A. (Darrah) Smith, who he was married to for 44 years.  He was preceded in death by wife Rose, sister-in-law Loretta (Cricket), father Vernon D. Smith, Sr., and step-father, James Williams.  He is survived by his mother, Betty Williams, of Williamstown, WV, daughters Michelle (Rex) Alloway, and Stephanie (Noy III) Rogers, and son Shawn, all of Marietta.  Also surviving are grandchildren Ethan, Olivia, Brandie, Noy IV, Alesha and Chad, and great grandchild Thane, brothers Vernon D. (Pam) Smith, Jr., better known as Skip, of Barlow, OH,sister Nancy (Mark) Ullman, of Barlow, OH, sister Joann Smith, of Morgantown, WV, brother Steve Smith of Morgantown, WV and brother Glen (Shirley) Smith of Midland,VA, and several nieces and nephews.
