Russell V. Jones

Russell V. Jones, 83, of Marietta, passed away at 6:50pm on Friday, April 29, 2011, at his home.

He was born on April 25, 1928, in Pennsboro, WV, a son of Sherman C. and Lenna Jeffers Jones.  He was a truck driver for R. O. Wetz for 33 years and enjoyed gardening, watching horse pulls and reading western books.

On December 24, 1955, he married Ida Lee who survives with 2 sons and 1 daughter:  Russell Leroy (Tammy) Jones, Michael (and his fiancé Donna) Jones and Dawn Jones all of Marietta; 5 grandchildren:  Daniel, Jeremy, Scott and Jarred Jones and Zach Marenchin and 4 great grandchildren:  Paige, Hayden, and  Camrie Jones and Slayden Turpin.  He is also survived by 3 brothers and 3 sisters:  Ray, Glenn, and Kenny Jones, Erma Freeland, Linda Lambert, Carolyn Payton.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his son Keith Jones, brother, Encil Jones, and 2 sisters, Opal Flesher and Donna Wilson.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday (May 4th) at 1:00 at McClure-Schafer-Lankford Funeral Home with Pastor Gale Lauderman officiating.  Burial will follow in Riverview Cemetery.  Friends may call at the funeral home on Monday after 2:00 with family present from 2-4 and 6-8 on both Monday and Tuesday. .
