Ruth “Amma” Marie Carr
Ruth "Amma" Marie Carr, 77 going on 29, was welcomed into the loving arms of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and reunited with her beloved soul mate, David L Carr Sr.
Born on June 21st, 1936 to Clarence and Flora Smith, Ruth grew up in Portsmouth, Ohio. On May 1,1954 she married David and raised their family in New Matamoras, Ohio. She is survived by one brother Kenneth Smith of Portsmouth.
Ruth was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She enjoyed sewing, baking, and spending time with her family. Even after Multiple Sclerosis destroyed her body, her joyful spirit and sharp wit remained.
A long-standing member of The Basilica of Saint Mary of the Assumption, Ruth was a dedicated disciple until the very end. No one ever left her presence without being told they were loved by Jesus.
She was actively involved in the education of her six children. David L. Carr Jr. (Amey); John Damron (Penny); Tony Carr (Jennifer); Teri Leister (Tom); Kathi Carr; Laura Keller (Kenny).
She loved to bake pies for her twenty-one grandchildren and often threatened them with the wet noodle when they misbehaved. The joy of her life and hope for the future were her 24 greatgrandchildren. She was looking forward to the birth of three more in 2014.
The legacy she leaves behind includes: Amanda (Morgan, Chesna, Naiya); Samantha (Sean-Ajaleagh, Gwyn); David III (Julie-Andre, Arianna); Ruthie; Devin (Alaina ); Ashley; Heather (Zach); Allison (Derrick); Katelyn (Randy-Addison); Faithe; Angela (Dylan-Baby Hank); Jennifer (Levi-Kayley, Elly, Sean, Audrey); Serena (Josh-Laura Kate, Emily, Michael, Grace); Trinity; Kyle (Bentley, Baby Zoey); Devon; Mallory; Kasey (Tristen-Lucas, Abby, Clark); Wesley (Whitney-Kyle, Trevor, Baby Keller); Dustin; Erik; Victoria.
