Ruth Cameron Hayes

Ruth Cameron Hayes, 99 of Marietta, County House Lane, went to her heavenly reward on Sunday, November 8,2009, shortly after noontime at the home of her daughter, Sandra Hines.

Ruth was born on March 27,1910 near Charleston, WV to Samuel and Delia Terry. She was the second of eight children. She married Roy Anderson Hayes on November 12,1934 and moved to Marietta where she became a devoted wife and mother to three children. Ruth was a member of the Marietta First Church of the Nazarene having joined the church in 1935. She served the church as treasurer for more that 25 years, was a member of the church board and taught Sunday School for over 65 years. Ruth and Roy were leaders of the Senior Adult Ministries (SAM Club) in the local church and the Central Ohio District Church of the Nazarene and had been given the Distinguished Service Award for their long dedication to the local church.

Ruth is survived by one daughter, Sandra Hines and her husband Ralph of Marietta, her daughter in-law Patricia Hayes Hastings, of Clearwater, Florida and one son, Terry Hayes and his wife Carol of Lexington, KY. She also has eight grand children and thirteen great grand children. She is survived by her sister Joyce and her husband Elmer Robinson of St. Albans, WV. She was preceded in death by her husband Roy and her son Roy Clifton (Sonny) Hayes.

Services will be at the Marietta First Church of the Nazarene on Colgate and Mill Creek Road Thursday, November 12,2009 at 11:00 AM with the Rev Terry Schmelzenbach and the Rev George Gribben officiating. Burial will be in East Lawn Memorial Park in Reno. Friends may call from 4 to 8 at the McClure- Schafer-Lankford Funeral Home in Marietta on Wednesday and one hour prior to the service at the church.
