Ruth Dennis Smith

Ruth C. Dennis Smith 80, of Reno, passed away on Friday, January 16, 2009, at Harmar Place.

She was born on May 20, 1928, in Marietta, a daughter of Okey and Garnet Dennis.  Ruth was a graduate of Newport High School with the Class of 1946 and Airline School in Kansas City.  She had worked for Remington Rand, Archer Auto Parts, City Loan and & Savings, Delta Airlines in Cincinnati and retired from Kardex Systems in 1993.

On August 17, 1952, Ruth married R. Paul Smith who survives with one daughter Cheryl of Kent, OH, one son Lyle of Chillicothe, OH, stepson Richard of Florida, 4 grandchildren:  Kimberly Smith and Lena Smith of Germany, Douglas Martell of California and Kristen King of Idaho, 3 great grandchildren:  Cody and Katelyn of California and Aerial of Idaho.  Also surviving is her brother Gary (Norma) Dennis of Marietta and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Wilford and Howard Dennis and sister Rosamond Hart.

No calling hours will be observed.  Memorial service will be held at  10:30 am, Saturday, January 24th at Sandhill United Methodist Church with Reverend Wendy Erb officiating.  The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Sandhill United Methodist Church or the Reno Volunteer Fire Department.
