Stanley Rexel “Rex” Eddy
Stanley Rexel “Rex” Eddy, 89, of Reno, passed away on Wednesday, September 12, 2012, at Heartland of Marietta. He was born on April 2, 1923, at Eddy’s Ridge a son of Milton G. and Katie Knutty Eddy. Rex graduated from Lawrence High School, served as Staff Sergeant in the US Army Air Force during World War II having served in the South Pacific Theatre, was a member of VFW of Marietta and American Legion Post 64. He retired from Kardex in 1988 after 43 years of service and loved gardening and woodworking.
On July 8, 1948, he married Ruth E. Long, his wife of 64 years, who survives along with his son Jeffrey L. (Bonnie Dailey) Eddy and daughter Judy L. (Don) Atkins, grandchildren, Justin L. Eddy of Chicago and Jennifer D. Atkins of Marietta, sister Goldie Long of Woodsfield, 2 sisters-in-law, Wilda Eddy of Marietta and Janie Eddy of Dart and brother-in-law, Alfred Westbrook of Marietta and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and 7 brothers: Harold, Marvel, Virgil, Karl, Dean, Russell and Oran and one sister, Glenda Westbrook.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday (September 15) at 10:30 am at McClure-Schafer-Lankford Funeral Home with burial following in East Lawn Memorial Park with full military rites.
