Thelma Jean Schramm

Thelma Jean Schramm, (85), of  Devola passed away June 30, 2011,  at home.

She was born on April 14, 1926, to the late Robert H. and Mary Belle Ullman in Elk Township, Noble County.    Jean graduated from Harrietsville High School in 1944. She was married to Earl H. Schramm of Elba on March 26, 1945. During their 66 years of marriage they resided in Lower Salem, Lowell, and Marietta, OH, as well as St. Charles, IL. where they spent 13 years before returning to Marietta in 1978. Although she worked at various jobs through the years, her lifelong career was a homemaker. Together they enjoyed traveling in their RV, especially to visit children and grandchildren. She is known for her canning, cooking, and especially her homemade noodles. Every child or grandchild has a quilt as a keepsake made by her.

She was a past matron of Eastern Star and was involved with Stepping Stones at OVC.   She served for many years as a Bible Class teacher at West Chicago Church of Christ and Sixth & Washington Church of Christ, where she remained an active member until her death.

Besides her parents she is preceded in death by her two brothers, Robert W. and George W. Ullman, her sister, Margaret Thomas, and daughter in law Debra Schramm. She is survived by her husband, Earl Schramm of Marietta, OH, her two sons Steve Schramm (Patti) of Houston, TX, Russ Schramm (Marge) of Williamstown, WV, and her daughter Diane Anderson (James) of Searcy, AR, eight grandchildren Scott Schramm(Gina) and Kurt Schramm (Julie), Breanne Mendlin (Eric)all from Denver,CO, Beth Allen (Fred) of Virginia Beach, VA, Jeremy Schramm (Natalie) of Mineral Wells, WV, Jeff Schramm (Lindsay) of Marietta, Luke Anderson (Carli) and Lara Anderson both of Searcy, AR, one step-granddaughter Natalie West of Denver, CO and sixteen great grandchildren: Brad, Heather, and Andrew Schramm of Castle Rock, CO, Jacob and Noelle Schramm of Lone Tree, CO, Kelsie, Nathan, and Karlie Schramm of Mineral Wells, WV, Parker Schramm of Marietta, OH, Lucca, Remington, Elle, Sage, and Abigail Anderson of Searcy, AR., Logan Mendlin of Littleton, CO, and Bray den Allen of Virginia Beach, VA.

We would like to give special thanks to caregiver Lacy McQuillian and the wonderful way Hospice personnel helped us.

Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday (July 5) at 10:30 am at Sixth and Washington Church of Christ with Randy Baker and James Anderson officiating.  Burial will follow in Salem Township Cemetery.

Friends may call at McClure-Schafer-Lankford Funeral Home on Sunday afternoon after 2:00  with family present 2-4 & 6-8 and on Tuesday at the church 1 hour before the service. (No Monday visitation.).
