Tommy Perdew
Another veteran has died…Tommy W. Perdew, 78, of Belpre, died at his home on Monday, January 17, 2011.
He was born April 10, 1932, in Belpre to Mont Lee and Gladys Sprague Perdew. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran, serving during the Korean Conflict. He had worked construction through Laborers Union #639, was a member of American Legion Post #750, Lowell, AmVets #1788, and the Sharon Masonic Lodge. Tommy had served on the Washington County Veterans Service Commission for many years.
He is survived by nieces and nephews, Rodney (Diane) Koon, Sally Webb, Dennis (Margy) Perdew, and Susan Mick, and their families and his faithful companion “Happy.”
Preceded in death by his siblings, Josephine Koon and Jack Perdew. Always the animal lover, Tommy's wishes were to be buried near his parents in Gravel Bank Cemetery, along with some of his faithful dogs' ashes.
At his request, his body will be cremated and a graveside service will be held at a later date. Donations to the Humane Society of the Ohio Valley, P.O. Box 5, Marietta, OH 45750. McClure-Schafer-Lankford Funeral Home is assisting the family.
