Violet E. Dillon

Violet E. Dillon, 85 of Williamstown, WV passed away peacefully in her sleep at her home in Williamstown on May 24, 2014 after a hard fought battle with leukemia. She was born in Parkersburg, WV on September 30, 1928, the daughter of Kenneth and Willa Blair.

She is survived in death by her devoted husband of 64 years Ross Dillon Jr. of Williamstown, two sons; Gordon Dillon of Terre Haught, Indiana and David Dillon of Williamstown, WV, 4 grandchildren; Justin Dillon of Jacksonville, Florida, Michael Dillon of Columbus, OH, Adam Dillon of Williamstown, WV, and Jessica Dillon of Williamstown, WV, as well as 4 great grandchildren; Alexis Dillon, Jordan Dillon, Wyatt Dillon, and Brandon Dillon all of Jacksonville Florida. She is also survived by her 3 brothers; Gordon Blair of Vienna, WV, Richard Blair of Bradenville, Florida, and Larry Blair of Parkersburg, WV, and one sister Barbara Sprouse of Parkersburg, WV.

All who knew Violet loved her, as she was a hard person not to love. She had a sweet disposition and welcomed all into her house and treated even strangers like members of her extended family and not even strangers were ever allowed to leave her house hungry.

As a young woman she enjoyed hunting and fishing and always loved the outdoors as well as animals of all kinds, which more often than not she treated as people.

Violet was always quick to offer help to any that needed it. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother and a good friend to all who knew her. She will be sorely missed until we all meet again on the other side.

Funeral services will be held 10:30 am Thursday the 29th at McClure-Schafer-Lankford Funeral Home with visitation beginning 2:00 pm Wednesday with the family present from 2pm to 4pm and 6pm to 8pm.  Messages of sympathy may be sent at www.Lankfordfh.com.

It was Violet's wish that instead of sending flowers that a donation be made in her name to your local food pantry.
