Violet E. Goudy

Violet E. Goudy, 81, of Marietta went home to be with the Lord peacefully of February 29, 2012 at 1:30 pm at Marietta Memorial Hospital.  Born on June 26, 1930, at Lost Creek, WV, to the late Oren M. Wright and Roxie Lena Longenette Wright.  She was a member of  the VFW Auxiliary 5108.  She loved to cook, read, feed and watch wild birds and spend time with family and friends  

On July 2, 1949, she was married to the late Charles C. Goudy.   She is survived by one daughter, Charlene G. Goudy of Marietta, one son Thomas Goudy of Marietta, 7 grandchildren:  Robert Hodge, Jr. (Missy), Mindy Starcher (Jesse), Kari Oliver (Jeff), Lori Hodge, Cori Treadway (Bryan), Thomas P. Goudy II (Danni), Tiffany Goudy all of Marietta; 6 great grandchildren:  Kiera, Alexia, Kylee, Casidy, Caleb, Kaine all of Marietta.  She is also survived by one brother, Darrell O. Wright of Georgia and special friends:  John Goins, Scot Ward, Kevin Newlon, Maxine Farley, Bessie Higgens and the ladies of the VFW Auxiliary, all of Marietta.

She was preceded in death by 4 brothers:  David, Kenneth, Robert and James and 4 sisters:  Betty, Mildred, Doris and Norma.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday (March 4) at 1:00 pm at McClure-Schafer-Lankford Funeral Home with Jerry Kuhn officiating.  Burial will follow in Schafer Cemetery in Macksburg.  Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday evening after 6:00 and all day Saturday with family present on Friday from 6-8 and Saturday from 2-4 & 6-8.
