Virginia B. Lane
Virginia B. Lane of Marietta, passed away peacefully and at Harmar Place on July 15, 2013, surrounded by family, loved ones and friends. Born in Little Hocking, OH, in 1921, to Perry and Nancy A. Shuster Bond, she was the youngest of 7 children.
Her husband, Walter T. Lane, Jr. preceded her in death.
Virginia is survived by her 5 children: Karen of Indianapolis, IN, Tom (Cathy) of Marietta, David of Marietta, Carol of Marietta and Dan (Jodi) of Marietta. Also surviving her are her 4 grandchildren: Julie (James) Crush of Carlsbad, CA, Jenifer Lane of Marietta, Joe Lane of Marietta, Beth Lane of Marietta; 3 great grandchildren, Caden Crush, Brooklyn Crush and Noah Lane.
Virginia was a strong woman with many interests. In addition to her family, she loved sports: she played women’s varsity basketball for Belpre High School and played first base on a community baseball team and she loved the Cincinnati Reds and OSU football teams. Other interests included music, dancing, traveling, adventures of any kind, Christmas, playing bingo on Thursdays at the Senior Center, crossword puzzles, jigsaw puzzles and eating good food at good restaurants and of course, her many friends including those who came to her home daily to assist her.
The family wishes to thank all of the wonderful staff at Harmar Place for their understanding and tender care of Virginia.
The family will receive friends and loved ones at McClure-Schafer-Lankford Funeral Home on Sunday (July 21) from 1:00 until 3:00 with the funeral service at 3:00 pm. Message of sympathy may be sent at www.lankfordfh.com.
