Virginia R Combs

Virginia R. Combs, 83, of Marietta, passed away 7:00 am, Tuesday, September 6, 2011 at Harmar Place.

She was born October 8, 1927 in Washington County, to Andrew Noble and Lulu Emma (Lane) McGregor.  Virginia had been employed at HARTS Family Center and was a member of Souls Harbor Baptist Church.  She also volunteered at the Tourist and Convention Bureau.

On November 29, 1947 Virginia married Ernest C. Combs who preceded her in death on December 28, 1987.

Surviving are her children Michael Combs of Marietta, Cheryl Gates (Tim) of Layman, Barbara Hupp (Wayne Sealey) of Marietta, Earl Combs (Jeannine) of Dalzell and Carla Thomas (Jerry) of Reno.  Also surviving are 12 grandchildren, several great grandchildren, brothers Miles McGregor and Keith McGregor and a sister Emma Lou Welch.  Several nieces and nephews also survive.

In addition to her parents and husband, Virginia was preceded in death by a son Bruce, daughter Linda, 4 brothers and 5 sisters.

Funeral services will be held 10:00 am Friday, September 9th, at McClure-Schafer-Lankford Funeral Home with Pastor Robert Hughes officiating.  Entombment will follow in East Lawn Memorial Park.  Friends may call at the funeral home after 2 pm Thursday; the family will be present to greet friends from 2-4 and 6-8.
