Wade D. Caltrider
Wade D. Caltrider, 83, of Williamstown, WV, passed away at 8:25 pm on Tuesday, March 5, 2013, at Camden Clark Medical Center. He was born on April 16, 1929, in Wirt County, WV, a son of Gertrude Bryan and Harry Caltrider.
Wade graduated from Marietta High School Class of 1947. He retired from A & P Stores after 31 years, later was employed at the Workingman’s Store for several years and retired from Big Lots at the age of 80. He was a member of Gilman United Methodist Church. He enjoyed attending his childrens and grandchildren’s activities and was a great supporter of his wife Betsy’s projects. He also enjoyed traveling and riding his motorcycle.
On April 16, 1949, he married Beatrice “Betsy” Frum who preceded him in death on March 2, 2013.
He is survived by 3 daughters: Debra (David) Penrose, of Centennial, CO, Darcie (Stephen) Ash of Marietta, Daryn (Jeff) Deem of Ripley, WV; 7 grandchildren: Elizabeth Penrose (Craig) Beckman, Eryn Penrose, Logan P. (Misty) Ash, Lexi Ash, Ethan Ash, Preston Deem, Parker Deem; 4 great grandchildren: Peyton Beckman, Haston Penrose, Ari Beckers, Addison Ash. He is also survived by 3 brothers: Donald Caltrider of Marietta, D. Nial Caltrider of Columbus and Emanuel L. Caltrider of New Bern, NC, and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife Betsy, his parents, daughter Darrelyn, grandson Evan Morgan Penrose.
Memorial services will be held on Saturday (Mar. 9) at 4:00 pm at Gilman United Methodist Church with Reverend Diann O’Bryant officiating. Friends may call at the church on Saturday from 2:00 until the hour of the service.
