William “Bill” Frederick Davis
William “Bill” Frederick Davis, 82 of Fleming, OH, returned to the loving arms of our Heavenly Father on June 12, 2013. His best friend and wife of 63 years, Esther and their children were by his side.
Born in Marietta, OH., on July 8 1930 to the late Emlin (Mike) L. and Helen Grace Flowers Davis. He attended Marietta and Vincent High School, graduating from Vincent H.S. in 1948. He served in the United States Air Force as an airplane mechanic. He was a member of the Tunnel United Methodist Church, having served as Sunday School Superintendent and Sunday School teacher. He is a member Bartlett F&AM Masonic Lodge # 293, The Lowell Post of the American Legion #750, and Eastern Star #59 of Marietta. Bill was a Charter member and founder of the Warren Twp Volunteer Fire Dept. Bill worked at B.F.Goodrich/R.J. F., for 43 years before retiring to restoring antique tractors, farming and traveling.
Bill is known for his humor, laughter and story-telling. Bill also enjoyed hunting, camping and playing cards with the "Over The Hill Gang." Most of all, he loved spending time with his wife and family.
Bill married the love of his life, Esther M. Giffin on May 27, 1950. Together they have four children, Jeanne (Bill) Allen of Rock Springs WY, Carol (David) Stacy of Fleming OH., Ellen (Ricky) Louizos of Melbourne FL and Will (Michele) Davis of Fleming OH. He is survived by grandchildren: Michelle, Jon, Sheri, Rob, Suzanne, Kylie, Stephen, Joel, Jake, Justin and Eric. Also, his great-grandchildren: Sierra, Rebecca, Herbert, Brandon, Owen, Lauer and a great-great grandchild, Casen. He is also survived by his siblings, Ruth (Joe) Muntz, Lois Lonaker and Jim (Jean) Davis, as well as, numerous nieces, nephews and many, many friends. Bill never met a person that did not like him. Bill was preceded in death by his parents, and grandson, Phillip.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday (June 16) at 1:30 pm at Tunnel United Methodist Church with Dr. Lloyd Dennis and Pastor Richard Thomas officiating. Burial will follow in Tunnel Cemetery.
