William “Bill” McVicar
William “Bill” B. McVicar, 79, of Marietta, passed away February 11, 2017 at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus.
He was born in Marietta on November 27, 1937 to Duane W. and Mary Ellen Shriver McVicar. Bill was a 1955 graduate of Marietta High School and had been employed at B.F. Goodrich for 41 years before his retirement. He was a veteran of the Army National Guard and a member of the American Legion Post 750 in Lowell. Bill was an active member of the Gilman United Methodist Church, and a member of Moose Lodge #1823. He enjoyed playing golf but really loved coaching his sons in baseball and basketball while they were growing up. Bill also liked watching high school sports and was a big fan of Marietta College Athletics.
On April 20, 1962, he married Sandy Adams who survives with their children Scott (Ellen) McVicar and Todd (Angela) McVicar both of Marietta. Also surviving are their grandchildren Austyn, Nathan, Taylor, and Lucas, and a sister Jane (Roger) Power of Kansas.
Funeral services will be held 10:00 am Thursday, February 16th at Gilman United Methodist Church with Diann O’Bryant officiating. Friends may call at McClure-Schafer-Lankford Funeral Home on Wednesday beginning at 2pm with the family present from 2-4 and 6-8 and 1 hour at the church prior to the service.
