Clifford F. Holden

Clifford F. Holden, 95, of Marietta passed away, Monday, November 7, 2016, at 9:00 pm at his home.  He was born March 3, 1921, at Gravel Bank.

 
He had been employed by Okmar Oil Company for over 45 years, was a veteran of U.S. Air Force serving during WWII, was a member of Warren Presbyterian Church serving in various offices, was a clerk of Warren Township for 20 years and also served in various capacities at the state level and served as president of the Washington County Planning Commission.  He owned and operated his own business, Hemlock Oil Company, was active in the Constitution Community and held the title “Honorary Mayor”.  He attended a one-room school at Gravel Bank and later graduated from Marietta High School and Marietta College.
 
On July 25, 1953, he married Marilyn Fullerton who survives with one daughter, Launa (Greg) Morus of Marietta, 2 grandchildren, Mitch (Mandy) Morus of Marietta and Marissa Morus of Pittsburgh.  He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Taylor, son John Joseph “JJ” Holden, twin brother Chris Holden and Uncle John Taylor.
 
Funeral services will be held on Friday (Nov. 11) at 11 am at McClure-Schafer-Lankford Funeral Home with burial in Gravel Bank Cemetery with full military honors.  The family will greet friends at the funeral home on Thursday 2-4 and 6-8.  Messages of sympathy may be sent at www.Lankfordfh.com.
