    Eddie Ray Emerick, 71, of Marietta passed away at 5:21 am, Tuesday, November 25, 2025 at the home of his son.
    He was born on June 8, 1954 in Marietta a son of George Emerick and Joan Berry Emerick. Eddie retired from the Marietta School System as a custodian at Phillips School.

    Jane Anne Tumas-Serna, 82, of Marietta, made her final journey, Tuesday, November 18, 2025, at Marietta Memorial Hospital, surrounded by her loving family.
    Jane was born December 21, 1942, in Chicago, Illinois, daughter of the late John Thomas and Anne Norkus Thomas. She studied art at the Art Institute of Chicago and philosophy at the University of Illinois, and later at the University of Missouri, where she met her husband, Manuel Antonio Serna-Maytorena.
    Jane and Antonio moved to Athens, Ohio in 1966, where they were both professors at Ohio University.

    Waldo E. Brown, 87, of Marietta, passed away peacefully on Monday, November 10, 2025, at Marietta Heights Post Acute. He was born on November 25, 1937, in Marietta, the son of the late Willard J. Brown and Gladys Schafer Brown.
    Waldo was a devoted son, husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Betsy, and his son, Roger Brown.
    He is survived by his daughter Barbara (Bill) Barefoot; daughter-in-law Heather Brown; grandchildren Chantel Brown, Mia Barefoot, and Henry Barefoot; and several nieces and nephews.

    Robert E. McElfresh, 68, of Marietta passed away peacefully on Tuesday, Nov. 4, 2025, surrounded by his loving family after a long battle with cancer.
    He was born on May 15, 1957, in Marietta to Robert and Ruby (Tidd) McElfresh. Bob graduated from Nashville Diesel College in 1977. Shortly after that he went to work for R.O. Wetz Transportation. He was a dedicated employee for 48 years.

    Jennifer Marie Dye Hefner, 43, of Girard, Ohio, passed away at 7:11 am, Tuesday, November 4, 2025 at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Youngstown, OH.

  • Gilbert “Bud” D. Schenkel, Jr

    Gilbert “Bud” D. Schenkel, Jr., 82, of Marietta passed away on November 1, 2025 at his home surrounded by his family.
    Bud was born in Marietta on February 7, 1943 to Gilbert D. and Ethel M. (Ziegler) Schenkel.  He was a 1961 graduate of Marietta High School, where he participated in track and football.   After graduation, he started his apprenticeship with the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, Local 972 Marietta working with Schenkel Electric, Inc.  Later in his career he worked out of the hall for various contractors in the area.  Bud retired in May 2011 and has been a proud member of IBEW for 63 years.

    Bill’s childhood years were spent on the family farm in Oak Grove with the generations before him.
