Ronald D. Carver
Ronald D. Carver, 78, of Marietta, Ohio, passed away on Sunday, January 15, 2012, at Marietta Memorial Hospital surrounded by loved ones after a long battle with Alzheimers. Ronald was born on Thanksgiving day, November 30, 1933 at 207 Gilman Street, Marietta, to the late Bernice Tullius Carver and Lee D. Carver.
He was a 1951 graduate of Marietta High School. Ronald served in the U. S. Army stationed in Fort Knox, KY, as well as the Army Reserve. He retired from Ohio Bell (AT & T, Lucent) after 38 years of service. After retirement he was employed at EDS, Hendershot Communications and installed lifelines for Marietta Memorial Hospital. Ronald spent time volunteering for the Humane Society and MMH. He belonged to the American Legion and was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America and the Communication Workers of America.
Ronald is survived by wife Saundra Theobald Carver and 5 children: Tony Carver, LeAnda (Dan) Latstetter, Greg (Summer) Carver, Kelly Carver, Shelley (Doug) Walters; 6 grandchildren: Aaron (Jessica) Carver, Andrew (Alie) Carver, Robert Landers, Taylor Latstetter, Douglas Walters and Hannah Walters; 2 great grandchildren, Seth and Zach Carver. Ron is also survived by one sister, Marilyn (Bill) Drennen and several nieces and nephews and the other love of his life—his dog Maggie.
Memorial services will be held on Friday (Jan. 20) at 11:00 am at McClure-Schafer-Lankford Funeral Home. Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday before the service beginning at 9:00 am..
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Humane Society of the Mid-Ohio Valley in Ronald’s name.
