Alice Louise Vickers
Alice Louise Vickers, 82, of Marietta, passed away on Friday, September 26, 2014, at 10:40 pm at her home.
She was born on March 29, 1932, in Marietta, to the late Harry Blaine and Bessie Margretta (Reynolds) Vickers. She graduated from Barlow Vincent High School with the Class of 1950. Louise was also a graduate of the American Institute of Banking and began her career with Citizens National Bank and Central Trust Bank before retiring from Bank One with over 30 years of service. Throughout her life, Louise enjoyed farming with her family and continued raising Hereford cattle during her retirement. She participated in the Women's and Church Bowling Leagues for many years. Louise enjoyed playing the piano.
She was a member of the Tunnel United Methodist Church. Louise had a beautiful voice and sang in the church choir. She was a member of the Women's Christian Temperance Union and the Women's Christian Society. For many years she was a youth fellowship leader with the L.T.L. and Y.T.C.
She is survived by two sisters, Bessie Jean Vickers and Dorothy Caldwell; one brother, Donald Vickers, all of Marietta; and many nieces and nephews, Keith Vickers, Jean Ann Caldwell, Nina (Les) McCutcheon, Nancy Caldwell, Ernest Caldwell, Joe (Nancy) Vickers, Edward Vickers, Jay Vickers, Bruce (Susan) Wunderlich, and Mark (Mary Beth) Wunderlich. She is also survived by many great-nieces and great-nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Ethel Wunderlich and Doris Ann Vickers; one brother, Carl Vickers; one nephew, Kurt Vickers; two brothers-in-law, Earl Caldwell and Herman Wunderlich; and two sisters-in-law, Mary Vickers and Helen Vickers.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday (Sept. 30) at the Tunnel United Methodist Church with the Rev. Richard Thomas officiating. Burial will follow in Tunnel Cemetery, Friends may call at McClure-Schafer-Lankford Funeral Home from 2-4 & 6-8 on Monday and one hour before the service on Tuesday at the church.
