Esther Mae Brannan Abbott

Esther Mae Brannan Abbott, 93, a former resident of Marietta passed away on Wednesday, June 7, 2017, in Fort Mill, SC. She was born September 16, 1923 in Pennsville, OH, to John Amos and Agnes Coulson VanFossen.

Esther was a 1940 graduate of Pennsville High School and a 1945 graduate of St. Joseph School of Nursing. She was a registered nurse at Marietta Memorial Hospital then Harmar Place Nursing Home until she retired in 1989.

She married James L. Brannan who preceded her in death in 1961 and is survived by 2 sons and 1 daughter: Daniel L. (Beth) Brannan, Jeffrey L. (Beverly) Brannan, Rebecca L. Brannan; grandchildren: Lauren Brannan, Daniel J. Brannan, Michael P. Brannan, Jeremiah Brannan, Alex Tarr, Maegan Tarr, and great granddaughter Penelope Quiroga. She later married Harold E. Abbott who preceded her in death in 1990.

In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her brother, Willard VanFossen and sister, Stella Davis.

Memorial services will be held on Friday (June 23) at 11:00 am at Sixth and Washington Streets Church of Christ with her nephew Michael Davis officiating.  Family will greet friends from 10 until 11 before the memorial service.  Graveside services will precede the memorial service at 2:30 pm on Friday in East Lawn Memorial Park.  McClure-Schafer-Lankford Funeral Home is assisting the family and messages of sympathy may be sent at www.Lankfordfh.com.
