Sophia Barth Winters
Sophia Louise “Phoebe” Barth Winters, age 102, of Marietta passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 12, 2017, at the Appletree Assisted Living facility in Beverly. She was born October 8, 1914, in Marietta to the late Adam E. and Martha Smith Barth. Sophia retired from Marietta Memorial Hospital after 42 years of service.
She was the last survivor of her immediate family, having been preceded in death by her parents, husband (Floyd Winters), six brothers, two sisters, two special nephews and many friends. She is survived by four generations of nieces and nephews as well as several special friends.
Her wishes were to be remembered by the good times she and her friends and family had together and if you wish, make a donation to the Marietta Community Food Pantry or a charity of your choice in her memory.
Sophia gave her body to Ohio State University School of Medicine for research and education. It was her wish that there be no visitation or service. McClure-Schafer-Lankford Funeral Home is assisting with fulfilling her wishes.
