Margaret Jean Jeffers Nolen-Ellis
Margaret Jean Jeffers Nolen-Ellis of Punta Gorda, FL and Mableton, GA died Monday, August 28 in Marietta, OH. She was born or March 16, 1935 in Marietta, OH the daughter of Clarence Otto Jeffers and Pauline Rose Remmy Jeffers.
She attended the Cleveland United Methodist Church in Punta Gorda, the Church of God in Powder Springs, GA and the Salvation Amy in Marietta. She was Secretary with the FOE #458 for 30 years and also belonged to BPOE #477, Moose Lodge #1823, American Legion #64 and VFW #5108. Jean was employed at Marietta College, Union Carbide and retired in 1996 from the State of Ohio Department of Transportation.
In addition to her parents Jean was preceded in death by her husband J.R. (Jack) Nolen on April 26, 2010 after 55 years of marriage, her grandson Nathan Nolen, and her brother George Edward Jeffers. She was also preceded in death by her sisters-in-law Mable Jeffers, June Jeffers and Barbara Thrift and by her brothers-in-law Earl Drake, Bob Thrift, Hollis Fletcher, Wilburn Nolen, Ellis Nolen, Jefferson Nolen and Troy McWhorter.
Surviving are her husband Walter L. Ellis who she married on January 6, 2012, her sons J.R. (Tina) Nolen Jr. of Springfield, VA and Don Nolen of Marietta, daughters Jan (Roger) Tabor of Marietta and Sabrina (Tom) Kerhin of Richfield, OH, and three grandsons, Jared Nolen and his son Cameron of Springfield, VA., Scott (Nina) Britton and the son Kaiden of Cincinnati, OH and Ashley (Amanda) Britton and their children Fiona, Liam, Colton, and Quinn of Temperance, MI. Also surviving are her brother Clarence “Bud” Jeffers of Whipple, OH and sisters Norma Drake of Marietta and Carolyn (Mike) Naylor of Parkersburg, WV, her brother-in-law Hayward Hubert (Anne) Nolen of Mineral Wells, TX and sisters-in-law Inez (Willie) West of Powder Springs, GA, Sandra (Mike) White of Statham, GA, Maebell Fletcher and Loyce Dunn of Deatsville, AL, Mrs. Ellis Nolen of Omega, GA, Mrs. Troy McWhorter of Dothan, AL, Lilian Pickens of Bremen, GA and Joanne (Paul) Askea of Smyrna, GA.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday August 31 at McClure-Schafer-Lankford Funeral Home in Marietta presided over by Hayward Hubert Nolen, retired pastor of the Perrin Assembly of God in Perrin, TX and Capt. Aaron Moore of The Marietta Salvation Army. Burial will follow at Valley Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm Wednesday.
