Tony J. Allen

Tony J. Allen, 62, of Marietta, passed away on Tuesday, April 27, 2010, at Ohio State University Hospital from complications after a lengthy battle with Multiple Sclerosis.

He was born on May 31, 1947, in Evansville, Indiana, to James A. and Pearl J. Brooks Allen.   Tony was retired from oil and gas production industry.  He was a member of Christ United Methodist Church, VFW Post 5108, American Legion Post 64, Masonic Lodge #1, and Marietta Shrine Club.  He was a veteran of the U. S. Army Infantry 4th ID, serving in Vietnam.  He enjoyed traveling in his motor home, having traveled to all continental U. S. states including Alaska twice.  He also enjoyed fishing and hunting and especially loved spending time with his grandsons.

On May 12, 1968, he married his high school sweetheart Judy Rhodes who survives with their daughter Sarah (Jimmy) Bird of Marietta, 2 grandsons, Jesse and Justyn Bird, and his mother Pearl of Marietta.

He was preceded in death by his father.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday (May 5th) at 11:30 am at McClure-Schafer-Lankford Funeral Home with Reverend Don Archer officiating.  Burial will be in East Lawn Memorial Park with full military rites.  Masonic Services will be held at the funeral home at 8:00 pm,  Tuesday evening.  Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday from 2:00 pm with family present from 2-4 and 6-8.  On line condolences may be sent to the family at:  www.mslfuneralhome.com.
