Meltha Wise Beckwith
Meltha Wise Beckwith, 85, of Marietta passed away 7:48 pm June 28, 2010 at the Arbors of Marietta.
She was born on July 22, 1924 in Braddock, PA a daughter of Charles H. and Vista E. (Stoner) Wise. Meltha had attended the Minerva High School in Canton. After moving to Marietta she owned and operated the Sandwich Shop and later the Oasis Confectionary. Meltha also worked at many of the local McHappy’s Bake Shops. She enjoyed Bingo, cooking, baking, gardening and especially her grandchildren.
In 1945 she married Ira Beckwith who preceded her in death on September 16, 1998.
Surviving are her children Tom Beckwith (Sally) of Vienna, Susan Masters of Williamstown, and Diane Brown (Nelson) of Cincinnati. Also surviving are grandchildren Tara Beckwith, Sarah Wells, Brian Masters, Tim Masters, Rob Brown, and Nathan Brown and great grandchildren Taylor and Daley Wells, Kelcei, Kayla and Kylee Masters, Tyler and Kelsey Brown, Jarett Masters and Silas Brown and great great grandson Christopher Dean Conley. Meltha is also survived by brothers and sisters: Hazel Stout of Belpre, Harold Wise, Eddie Wise, Jeanie Shaffer, Sandy Frakes, Norman Wise and Gloria Myers all of Canton.
In addition to her parents and husband, a grand daughter Heather Brown and brothers Warren, Jack and Junior Wise and sisters Opal Wilson and Jerry Slomsky preceded her in death.
A memorial service will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made in her honor to the American Heart Assoc. or the American Cancer Society. The family would like to thank Dr. Bob Paul Erdelyi for his special care of Meltha
