Thelma Irene Schultheis
Thelma Irene Schultheis, 94, of Marietta, passed away at 2:45pm on December 26, 2009 at The Harmar Place in Marietta. She was born in Akron, Ohio to Walter and Alma (Spindler) Lane. They later moved to Warren Township on a farm. She attended Marietta School and was a member of First Baptist Church. On June 26,1934, she married Lewis Schultheis.
She worked at the Betsey Mills Club as a waitress, and later at The Lafayette Hotel as a waitress until retirement. She was a member of Daughters of the American Revolution. She was a 4-H advisor for the East Norwood Combined 4-H Club. She enjoyed her flowers in her garden and watching the wildlife. She and her husband Lewis enjoyed their trips to the New England States and spending time at Myrtle Beach in the winter. Thelma also loved her house cats.
She is survived by 2 sons, Dr. Lyle (Bert) Schultheis of Marco Island, FL, Ronald (Cathy) Schultheis of Marietta, and 1 daughter Carolyn (Larry) Smith of Bolivia, NC. She has 5 grandchildren, 2 step grandchildren, and 5 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by parents, her husband Lewis, 2 brothers, Walter and Eugene Lane, 3 sisters, Lucille Lane, Betty Garrett, and Alice Pickrell and 1 grandson, Ethan Schultheis.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday (December 31st) at 11:00 am at First Congregational Church with Reverend Linda Steelman officiating. Burial will be in Tunnel Cemetery. Friends may call at McClure-Schafer-Lankford Funeral Home on Wednesday beginning at 2:00 with family present from 2-4 and 6-8 and at the church at 10:00 on Thursday.
