Lois Marie Holzapfel Grub passed away at Harmar Place January 9th, 2024. She was born October 30th 1934 on Neville Island, PA.
Lois was the third born and youngest child of Christy Wilhelm and Bessie Viola Tunney Holzapfel. She spent her early childhood growing up on Neville Island. PA. Her Daddy was transferred by his employer, Dravo Corp to Marietta, OH when Lois was 15. Her Parents rented a house on Second St in Marietta across from Becker’s Motors. Lois, new to the area with no friends would pass time by sitting on the front porch. It was this past-time that caught the eye of Clyde Grub who was employed by Becker Motors. Eventually he invited her to watch him play in a softball game. After acquiring permission from her parents, many ballgames were attended. Lois and Clyde were married October 14, 1951. They raised their three girls and made their home in the Oak Grove community for close to 60 years.
Lois (Mom) was known to ask any visiting family member and their friends if they would like something to eat. When she was turned down, her reply was always “Eat for the hunger that’s coming”. Sometimes it worked and others it did not.
Lois was employed at various places through the years. She began by washing and ironing people’s clothes at home. This enabled her to stay home with her girls. One of her favorite places to work was Fenton Art Glass as a tour guide. She met many people from all over the world.
