Audena E. Newhart

Audena E. Newhart, 97, of Williamstown, passed away at 11:40 pm on Thursday, March 19, 2009, at Marietta Memorial Hospital.

She was born on August 20, 1911, in Calhoun County, WV, to John and Ruby Fox Morgan.  She had taught school in a one-room school in Calhoun County and later was employed by American Viscose.  Audena was a member of Williamstown Presbyterian Church.  She enjoyed painting, reading and the out of doors.

Audena was married 57 years to Charles Richard “Dick” Newhart who preceded her in death on October 19, 1991. 

She is survived by her son, Allen R. Newhart of Williamstown; two grandsons:  Dr. Richard C. Newhart of Parkersburg and Jeremy Todd Newhart of Williamstown; grandchildren:  Tyler, Trenton, Andrew, and Hannahmarie Newhart; and her sister Joy (Robert) Stevens of Grantsville, WV.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and 7 brothers and sisters.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 am on Monday (March 23) at McClure-Schafer-Lankford Funeral Home in Marietta. Burial will follow in Riverview Cemetery in Williamstown.  Friends may call at the funeral home after 2:00 pm on Sunday with family present from 2 until 4 and 6 until 8.  On line condolences may be shared at:  www.mslfuneralhome.com.
