Kenneth “Smokepole” Holland

Kenneth “Smokepole” Holland, 67, of Rinard Mills, on April 30, 2012 was called home to his Lord, after a lengthy illness, at his home surrounded by his loving family.

 
Born July 13, 1944 to Bessie (Kuhn) and Dale Holland in Rinard Mills, Ohio.
Kenneth attended Stafford High School.  He had worked as a millwright, a meat cutter at Colegate Food Center, and a newspaper courier for The Marietta Times until his retirement.  Kenneth also served in the US Army. Kenneth was an avid outdoorsmen, enjoyed hunting and fishing with his sons and grandchildren, who were the light of his life. 
 
On August 15, 1967 Kenneth married Bernadine Grose who survives with sons John (fiancé Rebecca Taylor) Holland of Stafford, Michael (Kelly) Holland of Marietta, and Brian (special friend Melayne Pritchett) Holland of Rinard Mills, grandchildren Casey and Catherine Holland of Beallsville, Cody and Rylee Holland of Marietta, a brother Gary (Janet) Holland of Woodsfield and Several nieces and nephews.
 
Preceded in death by his parents, maternal grandparents Hiram and Martha Kuhn, paternal grandparents Harvey and Mary Holland, infant daughter Barbara, sisters Hazel Stark and Evelyn Phillips, infant brother John Holland nephews James Allen and Christopher Michael Holland.
 
A benefit planned for May 5th, 2012 from 4 to 9 at the Graysville Fire Department will continue as planned.
 
Special thanks to Graysville EMS, Medi Home Hospice, Melayne Pritchett and daughter-in-law Kelly Holland for the loving care they provided.
 
Funeral services will be held 10 am, Friday May 4th at McClure-Schafer-Lankford Funeral Home with Pastor Castle Roberts officiating.  Friends may call at the funeral home beginning at 2 pm Thursday with the family present from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8.  Burial will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery  at Marr. In lieu of flowers, the family requests monetary donations are made to McClure-Schafer-Lankford Funeral Home.
