Betty Maxine Schlatter (Johnson)
Betty Maxine Schlatter (Johnson) at 98 years young, of Belpre, Ohio went to her eternal heavenly home with the Lord on Sunday, August 23, 2026 to be reunited with her dear husband of 53 years, Jim “Tweet” Schlatter.
Born December 4, 1927, and raised in Parkersburg, WV, Betty grew up the eldest daughter in a family of 7 children, which certainly kept her busy. She was a true lady, always living with poise and grace. She had a fabulous sense of style, and was never to be seen without her hair perfectly coifed. She loved the Lord, her family, and her friends, and hosted holiday gatherings and kept a busy social calendar well into her 90’s. She was sassy, bold, and incredibly strong, having survived many difficult times during her life. She knew the true meaning of family and forgiveness, and how to create a “home” where all were welcome. Betty was a beloved wife, respected mother, and adored grandmother and great-grandmother.
Betty is survived by 3 children, Kathy (Ellison) Kirby, Tom Ellison, and David Schlatter; 9 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren; and sister Janet (Johnson) Proctor and brother Ted Johnson.
She is preceded in death by her parents, 4 siblings, and two husbands, Kenner Ellison and Jim Schlatter.
A small private family service to celebrate a life well-lived will be scheduled at a later date.
