Donn D. Bookman

Donn D. Bookman, 81, of Newport, passed away at his home on Sunday, June 24, 2012.  He was born on June 21, 1931, in Stafford, Ohio, a son of Howard and Grace Decker Bookman.  Donn was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in St. Marys and was a sheet metal worker at Marietta Metals until his retirement.

On June 21, 1949, he married Thelma June Brooks who preceded him in death.

Donn is survived by children: Gary Donn (Karen Sue) Bookman of New Matamoras, Shelda Jean Moore of Dart, Douglas Dean Bookman of New Matamoras, Gerald Howard (Sue) Bookman of Newport, Sarah Jane (Jeffrey Greenwood) Murphy of Newport and Joey Gale (Juanita) Bookman of McAllen, TX.  Also surviving are 14 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, brother Crandall Bookman of Oak Grove and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by 2 grandchildren Roger Moore and Frankie Bookman, sister “Sis” Velma Huck and son-in-law Harry Ray Metheney.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday (June 28) at 11:00 am at McClure-Schafer-Lankford Funeral Home with Pastor Doug Brown officiating.  Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday afternoon after 2:00 with family present from 2-4 & 6-8.  Burial will follow at Eddy’s Ridge Cemetery.  Messages of sympathy may be sent at www.mslfuneralhome.com.
