Joan Berry Emerick Allphin
Joan Berry Emerick Allphin, 82, of Marietta passed away at 10:50 pm on Monday, July 30, 2012, at Marietta Center for Rehabilitation and Nursing.
She was born in Marietta on May 31, 1930, a daughter of Emmett Russell Berry, Sr. and Grace Marie Covey Berry. Joan was a 1948 graduate of Marietta High School and graduated in 1968 from the first nursing program in Marietta. She was a LPN at Selby General Hospital and The Woman’s Home and was a member of Women’s Auxiliary VFW.
In 1948, she married George F. Emerick and later married in 1972 William Allphin, both preceded her in death.
Joan is survived by her children: George Russell (Deanna) Emerick, Eddie R. (Rhonda) Emerick, David D. (Teresa) Emerick, Randall R. “Bazz” (Sue) Emerick, Jack B. (Karen) Emerick, JoEllen Emerick all of Marietta, 12 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren, her brothers, Harley Dean (Barbara) Berry and Emmett Russell (Sarah) Berry, Jr.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, and son John W. Emerick.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Friday (August 3) at McClure-Schafer-Lankford Funeral Home with Dave Michael officiating. Entombment will be in East Lawn Memorial Park. Friends may call at the funeral home beginning Wednesday evening after 6 pm with family present from 6-8 and on Thursday with family present from 2-4 & 6-8.
