Katherine E. (Miller) Shawver
Katherine E. (Miller) Shawver, 79, of Williamstown, went home to be with Jesus her Savior at 11:20 pm on Wednesday, August 1, 2012,at Marietta Memorial Hospital. She was born on November 25, 1932, in Parkersburg, WV, a daughter of Russell O. and Iris Beatrice (Jackson) Miller.
Katherine was employed at Fenton Art Glass for 33 years as a packer and selector. She was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church in Williamstown where she served as the church clerk and secretary, taught Sunday school and bible school, worked with the junior high youth fellowship and junior choir. Her passion was her ministry in singing and later directing the adult chancel choir. She also served as a trustee for the church.
On November 10, 1951, she married James B. “Blaine” Shawver who preceded her in death on August 6, 2003. One son and one daughter survive: Iris E. (Larry) Ellis of Fleming and Richard B. Shawver of Williamstown. Also surviving are 3 grandchildren: J. D. (Laura) Ellis, Chad C. (Angie) Shawver, Leisel (Jason) Grayson; 3 great grandchildren: Victoria Renae and Kadence LeighAnn Grayson, Olivia Rae Shawver; her sister Eleanor Mays and her brother Clyde Miller.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and several brothers and sisters.
Funeral services will be held on Monday (August 6) at 11:00 am at First Baptist Church in Williamstown with Pastor J. David Easter officiating. Friends may call at McClure-Schafer-Lankford Funeral Home on Sunday afternoon after 2:00 with family present 2-4 & 6-8 and at the church one hour before the service.
