Robert W. Haas
Robert W. Haas, 78, of Lower Salem passed away peacefully on Monday, December 17, 2012, at his home surrounded by his family. He was born on April 5, 1934, in Reno, Ohio, a son of Gerald and Ethel McMahan Haas. He graduated from Marietta High School in 1952 and worked at Kardex, retiring after 44 years in 2000. He was co-founder of Salem Township Volunteer Fire Department and served as Fireman, EMT and Treasurer, was a councilman for Village of Lower Salem for over 50 years, was a life member of NRA and enjoyed his family, friends and gardening.
He married Helen A. Clark on December 11, 1953 and they had just celebrated their 59th wedding anniversary. She survives with children: Debbie Haas of Marietta, Steve (Mindy) Haas of Whipple, Denise (Mike) McKenzie of Marietta, OH, Scott (Mary) Haas of Lexington, OH; 8 grandchildren: Taylor Reeves of Marietta, Mallory (Seth) Haines of Spotsylvania, VA, Kendall (Micah) Spence of Lewisville, TX, Madison Haas of Whipple, Jerad (Heather) McKenzie of Marietta, Megan (Brad) Offenberger of Marietta, Caitlyn and Colton Haas of Lexington, OH; 3 great grandchildren: Samuel and Savannah Offenberger, Brooklyn McKenzie; sister-in-law Norma Clark.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister Lois D. Haas.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday (Dec. 20) at 11:00 am at McClure-Schafer-Lankford Funeral Home with Pastor Lou Verdi officiating. Burial will follow in Salem Township Cemetery.
