Glen E. Wittekind
Glen E. Wittekind, 91, of Marietta passed away at 11:15 pm on Thursday, May 2, 2013, at his home. He was born on July 16, 1921, in Marietta a son of Oliver Wittekind and Rosa Keerps Wittekind. Glen was retired from Remington Rand Corporation, was a veteran of the U. S. Army serving during World War II in the South Pacific Theater, and was a member of American Legion Post 64 and VFW Post 5108. He was a graduate of Marietta High School Class of 1940 where he played football, basketball and ran track.
On September 12, 1942, he married Betty Brown McClure Wittekind who preceded him in death on November 2, 1999.
Glen is survived by 3 sons and 2 daughters: David (Jane) Wittekind of Marietta, Douglas (Cindy) Wittekind of Newport News, VA, Roger (Janie) Wittekind of Marietta, Sally (Charles) Breitstadt of West Worthington, OH, Susan (Steve) Stansbury of Cambridge, 9 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, and 1 great, great grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife and 4 brothers.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday (May 7) at 11:00 am at McClure-Schafer-Lankford Funeral Home with burial in East Lawn Memorial Park. Friends may call at the funeral home on Monday after 2:00 with family present 2-4 & 6-8. Messages of sympathy may be sent at www.lankfordfh.com.
