Robert E. “Jed” O’Brien

Robert E. “Jed” O’Brien, 59, of Lower Salem passed away at 5:55 am on Thursday, August 1, 2013, at his home.  He was born March 11, 1954, in Marietta, a son of Robert Eugene O’Brien and Rose Mugrage O’Brien.  He was a mechanic and was an avid hunter and enjoyed his grandchildren.

On May 24, 1974, he married Bonnie Adams who survives with 2 sons and 2 daughters:  Shelly Waterman of Warner, Joyce (Randy) Schau of Lowell, Robert (Amanda) O’Brien, Jr. of Lower Salem and Steven (Carla) O’Brien of Lower Salem; 8 grandchildren:  Derek Waterman, Randy Schau, Josie Schau, Devin Waterman, Haleigh O’Brien, Robert Cole O’Brien, Casey Lynn Heslop, Cody O’Brien.  He is also survived by 4 brothers and 4 sisters:  Linda (Steve) McVey, Kathy O’Brien, Kimberly (John) Cunningham, Joyce (Lowell) Vincent, John (Garnett) O’Brien, Mark (Mary Anna) O’Brien, Jim (Darlene) O’Brien, Bill (Sara) O’Brien and many nieces and nephews. 

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday (Aug. 6) at 10:30 am at McClure-Schafer-Lankford Funeral Home with Pastor Melvin Adams officiating.  Visiting will begin at the funeral home on Monday after 2:00 with family present 2-4 & 6-8.  At his request he will be cremated.

The family will greatly appreciate contributions to the funeral home to help with Jed’s funeral expenses.
