    John C. Parsons, 75, of Marietta, OH passed away at 11:34 am, Sunday, August 2, 2020 at Marietta Memorial Hospital. He was born June 20, 1945, in Norfolk, VA, a son of Robert Haut and Elizabeth Ann Deem.
    John was a postal carrier in Williamstown, WV for 28 years. He was a member of Lynn Street Church of Christ in Parkersburg, WV. John was a Vietnam veteran and served in the U. S. Army for 8½ years. He was a member of VFW Post 5108 in Marietta and American Legion Post 15 in Parkersburg.

    Garnet R. Thomas, 79, of Marietta passed away at 6:00 am, August 1, 2020, Muskingum Valley Nursing Home.
    She was born October 24, 1940, in Marietta a daughter of Clarence and Beatrice Farley Alden. Garnet was a homemaker.
    On February 5, 1956, she married Beman Thomas who preceded her in death on June 17, 2016.

    Ida Belle Morrow, 76, of Reno passed away on Thursday, July 30, 2020, at Marietta Memorial Hospital. She was born on December 3,1943, in Parkersburg, WV, a daughter of Otto and Clara Mercer.
    Ida was a homemaker who enjoyed life and spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren and teaching them life skills. She enjoyed fishing and was just a country girl.

  • Charles Edward Schob, Sr

    Charles Edward Schob, Sr., 77, of Marietta passed away at 7:02 pm, Wednesday, July 29, 2020, at Marietta Memorial Hospital. He was born November 28, 1942, in Marietta a son of Cecil Edward and Virginia Mae Sauer Schob.
    Chuck was an auto mechanic all his life. He owned and operated the Amoco Service Station on Harmar Hill for 13 years. He moved his business, Chuck Schob Auto Repair, to the west side and was open for 38 years. He was a member of Jaycees, Moose Lodge, where he was past Governor and Trustee. He also was a former Trustee with the Elks Club. He attended Gilman Avenue United Methodist Church.

    Doris French, 91, formally of Reno and Marietta went to sleep Sunday night (July 26, 2020) and woke up Monday morning to greet her Lord and Savior. She was born December 15, 1928.
    Doris is survived by her 2 sons. Greg (Dottie) French of Virginia Beach, and Michael (Dawn) French of Rittman, OH, 3 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

  • Robert Eugene Shankland

    Robert Eugene Shankland, 90, of Lowell, Ohio passed away at 11:45 am, Thursday, July 23, 2020, at his home. He was born March 8, 1930 in Lebanon, Ohio the son of the late James and Hazel McPeek Shankland.
    Bob attended school in Lebanon. He worked at Pennington Bakery formerly known as Rich Loaf for 29 years. Bob retired from Harts Family Center after 10 years of service. He loved to garden, fish, watch the New York Yankees play and take care of his “Honey.” He loved to sing, tell stories and always had a joke to tell. He was Pickin On Country’s biggest fan and loved to get up on stage and perform with the band. Bob always had a smile on his face no matter what life threw his way. On May 24, 1952, he married Betty McCune who preceded him in death on September 17, 2006.

    Dorothy was a homemaker. She was former President of Newport Senior Citizens, a member of Red Hats and was a member of Deucher Baptist Church. She had a love for cats and going out for dinner. She was a master of quilt-making and crocheting.
