  • James W. “Butch” Doak

    James William “Butch” Doak, 73, of Marietta passed away at 4:00 am, Friday, March 27, 2020. He was born on December 22, 1946, in South Charleston, WV, a son of James and Helen Williams Doak.
    He had been employed at McJunkin Supply, Marietta Moose, Marietta Ignition, Food 4 Less and his favorite–Bob Evans as a host where he saw his old friends at made many new ones. Jim had served in the U.S. Army in Korea during the Vietnam era. He was a member of VFW Post 5108 and Barnett Ridge Church of Christ in Fleming. He was a firm believer in God.

  • Velma L. Abicht

    Velma Leona Abicht, 89, of Marietta passed away Tuesday, March 17, 2020, at Marietta Memorial Hospital. She was born January 13, 1931, in Marietta a daughter to Dewey Admiral Schau and Bertha Bogard Schau Dennis.
    Velma had been employed as a nurses’ aide at Marietta Memorial Hospital, was a member of the Civil Defense Corps active in Tai-Chi and was a member of Marietta Bible Center Church where she taught Sunday School. She graduated from Marietta High School in 1948.

  • Jacolyn Bailey

    On Friday, March 13, 2020, Jacolyn Bailey, loving wife and mother of four passed away at the age of 62.
    Jacolyn was born February 7, 1958 in Marietta, Ohio to Willard Johnson and Roberta (Bobbi) Irvine. Jacolyn had a nursing degree and an engineering degree from Ohio University.
    On June 24, 1993 she married her true love DeGearld (Tim) Bailey. They raised four daughters Amanda(Evan) Lightner, Grace Bailey, Melissa (Todd) Cherry, and Seleen (Faxson) Cockrell. Jacolyn had four very loved grand children Chloe & Megan Lightner and Tyson & Tanner Cherry. Jacolyn left behind her brothers Earl (Renee) Johnson, Gene Johnson, and her sister Becky Chutes. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
    Jacolyn fought a hard battle with cancer. Jacolyn showed us how to fight this horrible disease with strength, dignity, power, and she never gave up. Jacolyn was a devout catholic at St. Mary’s Catholic Church.

  • Ruth Ann Brown Marsee

     
    Ruth Ann Brown Marsee 76 of Reno went to her heavenly home on March 10, 2020 at Marietta Memorial Hospital after a long illness.
    She was born August 10, 1943 to Fred and Leota Brown in Canton, OH. Ruth Ann graduated from Marietta High School in 1961.
    She married Willard Lee Marsee Sr. on November 24, 1961. Ruth Ann was a member of the Marietta Church of God, where she taught Sunday School and Jr. church for many years. She enjoyed embroidery, reading her bible, and singing to gospel music. Spending time with her family, kids and grandkids gave her great joy.

  • Denise D. Hansen

    Denise D. Hansen, 39, of Marietta passed away 8:00 pm March 5, 2020 at Heartland of Marietta after a 3 year battle with Glioblastomia.
    She was born August 11, 1980 to Daniel Hansen and Deborah Meek Hansen. Denise was a 1999 graduate of Marietta High School and had been employed as a cake decorator at Dairy Queen, worked in the Washington County Auditor’s Office, and at DMG Auto Service as a receptionist. Above all she was a stay at home mom for her children.
    Surviving are her children Logan, Andrew and Chase, step-son Cody Zimmer, her father, Dan (Charlotte) Hansen, her mother, Deborah Hansen, brother Darren Hansen, and step-sister Jennifer Farley. Also surviving are her grandmothers Barbara Meek and Phyllis Gregory, several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and a special cousin and friend Ashley Wells.

  • Kenneth Carroll Nolan, Sr.

    Kenneth Carroll Nolan, Sr., 80, of Williamstown passed away March 3, 2020 at his home. He was born May 24, 1939 in Piney, WV to Nelson G. and Bertha J. (Rose) Nolan. Kenneth had worked construction with the Robert Nolan Builders and was a member of the 6th and Washington Street Church of Christ.
    Surviving are his sons Kenneth Nolan, Jr. (Chinita) and Kevin Nolan (Rose) and grandsons Dimetryus, Jalen and Jamir Nolan. Also surviving are Kenneth’s siblings Betty Wright, Junior Nolan, Shirley Roton and Roger Nolan (Cindy).

  • Troy W. Dunham

    Troy W. Dunham, 36, of Belpre passed away at 2:25 am, Wednesday, February 26, 2020, at Marietta Memorial Hospital. He was born December 4, 1983, in Parkersburg, WV to the late Clark Dunham and Peggy Hinton Dunham of Belpre.
    Troy attended Cutler Chapel United Methodist Church and Ewing School. He never met a stranger.
