    Deborah Jo Reiter Malcolm, 67, of Marietta passed away on Friday, June 28, 2019, at 1:55 pm at University Hospital Parma Medical Center in Parma, Ohio. She was born July 2, 1951, in Marietta a daughter of Billy F. and Betty Jo Immel Reiter.
    She was a graduate of Caldwell High School and Washington State Community College with a degree in Business Management. She was employed as a business manager for Harmar Place and retired in June, 2018 from Crescent & Sprague. Deborah loved to bowl and was very active in Relay for Life and was a breast cancer survivor.

  • Specialist Christian Duaine Ward

    Specialist Christian Duaine Ward passed away, surrounded by family, on June 28, 2019 in Colorado Springs, Colorado. He was born in Marietta, Ohio on January 26th, 1996 to Gary D. Ward and Heather A. Perry.
    Christian Ward enlisted into the United States Army on July 21, 2015 in Charlotte, North Carolina. He completed Basic Combat Training at Fort Jackson, South Carolina and Advanced Individual Training for the 15T UH-60 Blackhawk Mechanic Course at Fort Eustis, Virginia. His duty assignments include UH-60M Crew Chief and ALSE Technician with Charlie Company and 2-4th General Support Aviation Battalion located in Fort Carson, Colorado with whom he deployed once to Romania and Bulgaria while assigned to Task Force Comanche in support of Atlantic Resolve. His military education includes Aviation Life Support Equipment Technician, Helicopter Repairer, and the Combat Lifesaver Course. His awards and decorations include the Army Commendation Medal, National Defense Service Medal, and the Aviation Badge.

    Marshia L. LaFollette, 62, of Williamstown, WV, passed away at 12:15 pm, Monday, June 24, 2019, at Marietta Memorial Hospital.  She was born August 30, 1956, in Marietta a daughter of the Harold Burdette and the late Sandra Wilson Burdette. Marshia was employed for 37 years at Fenton Glass Gift Shop.

  • Emerson R. Shimp

    Emerson R. Shimp, 75, of Marietta passed away Monday, June 24, 2019, at his home. Emerson was born on September 4, 1943, in Baltimore, Ohio, a son of Floyd and Laoma Hilty Shimp.  Over the years, he was a Washington County Extension Agent dealing with natural resources, community development and then Economic Development. He retired from Washington Extension services to become the Director of the Small Business Development Center located at Marietta College where he served for 10 years.

    Carolyn Sue Hornsby, 70, of Marietta passed away at her home on June 23, 2019. She was born October 8, 1948, in Marietta a daughter of Dana and Blanche L. Parsons Carpenter.  Carolyn was a graduate of Marietta High School and was employed for 18 years as a cook for the Washington County Sheriff’s Department.

    Peggy L. Wegmiller, 82, former resident of Marietta and currently of Delaware, Ohio, passed away at 6:10am on Sunday, June 23rd, 2019, at Ohio Living – Sarah Moore Assisted Living.
    Born on August 31st, 1936 in Macksburg, Ohio, she was the youngest daughter of Homer I. Dutton and Hazel M. Hesson Dutton. She was a graduate of Marietta High School, Class of 1954. Peggy was a member of Marietta Central Christian Church and a former member of the Marietta Ladies Civitan Club and the Betsey Mills Ladies Club. She worked at New Systems Bakery and was a proud wife, mother, grandmother, & homemaker.
