    Mary Sue Holpp, 88, former resident of Newport, Ohio, passed away at 12:43 pm, Friday, January 13, 2023 at Harmar Place.
    She was born on May 13, 1934, in Newport a daughter of Elmer and Matilda Farnsworth Riggs. She was a homemaker and was a member of Newport Baptist Church and had been a volunteer for the Newport Food Pantry.

    John D. Fleming, 46, of Marietta passed away on Tuesday, January 10, 2023, at his home.
    He was born September 10, 1975, in Marietta a son of Jayne Abicht Tornes and John A. Fleming. John spent many years in Japan where he taught English and was a Japanese commercial fisherman. John loved being a father and adored his girls. He was a veteran of the U. S. Navy, was an avid reader and enjoyed music.

  • Helen Virginia “Ginnie” Tewkesbury

    Helen Virginia “Ginnie” Rake Tewkesbury, 98, of Marietta passed away at 2:23 am, Monday, January 9, 2023, at Washington County Home. She was born July 26, 1924, in Marietta a daughter of Edward McKinley Rake and Basilla Marie Landers Rake.
    Ginnie was a graduate of Marietta High School, Class of 1942 and had worked at Remington Rand during WWII. She was a member of Norwood United Methodist Church. During High School she was a member of the Drum Corps. She enjoyed reading, playing Bingo and was an avid bowler.

  • Wilbert W. “Bill” Weckbacher

    Another WWII and Korean War veteran has died… Wilbert W. “Bill” Weckbacher, 96, of Marietta, Ohio (formerly of Lowell, Ohio), passed away Sunday January 8, 2023 at Elison Assisted Living of Marietta, Ohio. He was born at his grandmother, Louisa Hercher’s home in Sycamore Valley, Ohio on July 9, 1926, eldest son of the late Roscoe and Daisy Anderson Weckbacher.
    He served our country in the United States Navy from 1944-1953. He was awarded his High School Diploma in 2002. He looked forward to playing basketball at Graysville High School, but 3 days into his Senior year, he received a “Greetings” letter from Uncle Sam. He was drafted on Sept. 25, 1944.

    He was born on June 28, 1943 in Volga, WV, a son of Hartsel and Neva Arms Campbell. Buddy was employed at Broughton Dairy and was a member of Souls Harbor Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon.

    Betty L. Bradford, 92, of Marietta left this earth to sing with the Angels at 12:55am, Tuesday, January 3, 2023, at Waterview Pointe in Marietta.
    She was born April 8, 1930 in Reno, Ohio, to Homer and Genevieve Wiggans Poole. Betty graduate from Marietta High School and was employed at First Bank for 40 years before retiring. She was a life long member of Reno Christian Church and also attended the Marietta Church of Christ and was a member of Ladies Civitian.
