  • Glen L. Daugherty

    Glen L. Daugherty, 70, of Marietta passed away Wednesday, August 10, 2022. He was born January 5, 1952, in Marietta a son of Chet and Norma Neville Daugherty.
    Glen was a member of the International Union of Painters and Allied Trades District Council 53, Local 93. He was a Veteran of the U. S. Marines and served in Vietnam from 10/25/1971 to 1/6/1972 and was awarded the Vietnam Service Metal. He was a member of VFW 5108. He enjoyed bumper pool and was known for his competitive nature that he passed on to his children and grandchildren.

  • Dorothy Ruth Barnhart Pierpoint

    Dorothy Ruth Barnhart Pierpoint went home to be with her Lord and Savior on August 10, 2022.
    She was born in Warner, OH, on December 2, 1923 to Homer and Clara Lauer Barnhart.
    Dorothy graduated from Salem Liberty and was the last surviving member of her class.

  • Frank Dettorre

    Frank Dettorre, 99, WWII Air Force veteran, of Marietta, Ohio, passed from this life peacefully after a brief illness on Monday, August 8, 2022.
    He was born August 20, 1922, in Steubenville, Ohio, a son of Patsy and Leona Paoloemelio Dettorre and was so looking forward to his 100th birthday. Frank was employed and retired from Wheeling Pittsburgh Steel. He was formerly a member of the Westminster Presbyterian Church in Steubenville and First Baptist Church upon moving to Marietta.

  • Edward Bodie Kiggans

    Edward Bodie Kiggans, 87, of Marietta passed away at 5:34 pm on Sunday, August 7, 2022 at his home. He was born on March 1, 1935, at Archers Fork a son of Clarence and Lucille West Kiggans.
    Bodie was retired from American Cyanamid/Cytec and had served during Korea in the U. S. Army. He was a devoted member of Soul’s Harbor Baptist Church where he taught Sunday School for many years.

  • Charles Irwin Kurner

    Charles Irwin Kurner, 94, of Glenwood, Marietta, Ohio, passed away on August 7, 2022. He was born in Steubenville, Ohio, on April 18, 1928, the son of Mabel and Ray Kurner. He was a graduate of Steubenville High School and later a graduate of Marietta College with a Bachelor of Science degree in biology. After college he served in the Navy for 4 years during the Korean War. He retired from American Cyanamid where he had been a microbiologist.
    On March 12, 1955, Chuck married Marian Lloyd Kurner, whom he had known since seventh grade. Theirs was a long and happy marriage in which together they shared a love of travel, opera, theater, classical music and symphony concerts with many close friends. They both enjoyed working “behind the scenes” with the Mid Ohio Valley Players.

  • Thelma L. Lauer

    Thelma L. Lauer (The Pie Lady) of Whipple passed away on Saturday, August 6, 2022, surrounded by her family. She was born on November 10, 1934, in Marietta daughter of the late Clement and Monie Stewart Martin.
    Thelma was a founding member of the Fearing Twp. Volunteer Fire Dept., one of two left. She dedicated 51 years plus of her life serving the fire department, 46 years as a EMT serving the Fearing Twp. residents and neighboring communities. She will sadly missed by many.

    Lucy Mae Hickman, 63 of Marietta passed away at 6:15 pm, Saturday, August 6, 2022, at Marietta Memorial Hospital.
    Lucy was born July 30, 1959, in Marietta a daughter of Leander Farnsworth, Jr. and Louise Mugrage Farnsworth. She enjoyed listening to music, dancing and spending time with grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
