George Robert Rake
George Robert Rake, a veteran of the Korean War, served as a corporal in the US Army passed away Sunday morning, September 22, 2024 at Marietta Memorial Hospital at the age of 89.
George was born December 24, 1934 to Robert L. and Ruth Kiggans Rake.
He was preceded in death by his parents, loving wife of 54 years, Bonnie J. Huntsman Rake and brother, Larry L. Rake.
He is survived by his two sons, Jeffery Robert (Missie) Rake with one granddaughter Megan June Rake Stull (Alex) and 4 great grandchildren: Tyler, Phoenix, Athena and Ava; and Terry Lee (Susan) Rake with 3 grandchildren Emily Marie of South Korea, Leah Jean of Columbus and Jacob Robert of Belpre.
George was a member of Souls Harbor Church where he dedicated years of service to The Seedline Ministries which distributed Bibles written in 17+ languages to persons around the world. He was also a member of Laborers Local 639 of Marietta.
There will be a graveside service in Rake Cemetery officiated by Bob Feathers at a later date. McClure-Schafer-Lankford Funeral Home is assisting the family and messages of sympathy may be sent at www.Lankfordfh.com.
