Clyde Leasure Jr.

Clyde Leasure Jr. passed away on Friday, December 22, 2017, at Mount Carmel East Hospital at the age of 85 after an extended illness. He was born on May 27, 1932 in Marietta, Ohio. He was the son of the late Clyde and Grovie Leasure (Casto).

Clyde’s first job as a very young boy was selling newspapers and later, as a teenager, folding laundry at the Marietta Memorial Hospital. After graduating from the Marietta High School in 1950, he married his wife of 66 years, Carol Joanne Schramm, on August 5, 1950. Thereafter, the young husband worked as a taxi cab driver and honed his automotive repair skills as a mechanic at a local garage. In 1952, he began working as a draftsman for the Remington Rand Corporation, where he worked in their engineering division for 25 years. He later worked for the Westinghouse Corporation and the Aerolite Company. In the early 1990’s, he started his own delivery business and maintained that company until his retirement and move to the Columbus area in 1994.

Clyde’s life was dedicated to his career and family. He worked hard to provide for his wife and children. Throughout his entire career, the quality of his work was such that he consistently held leadership positions. He was the consummate renaissance man as his areas of expertise spanned many facets of both engineering and construction. There was simply nothing that he couldn’t build or fix.

Clyde is survived by his children Mark Alan (Jane) of Reynoldsburg, Michael Todd (Catherine) of Melbourne, FL, Teresa Lynn Ploesser of Pickerington, and Timothy Lee (Lasea) of Pickerington; nine beautiful grandchildren and three beautiful great grandchildren; sisters Gloria Jean and Dianne, and brother Roger. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Joanne, brothers Bill and Don, and sisters Dorothy, Darlene, Edith, and Edna.

Calling hours will be held at the McClure-Schafer-Lankford funeral home in Marietta, Ohio on Wednesday, December 27, from 6 – 8 P.M. The service will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, December 28, at 12 P.M. with Pastor Gordie Deer officiating. The graveside service will follow at East Lawn Memorial Park.

Memorial donations may be made to the Hospice Foundation of America (hospicefoundation.org) or the American Cancer Society (cancer.org) in his name.
