Teddy Joe McConnell
Teddy Joe McConnell born November 15th, 1933 to the late Rightly Lee McConnell and Norma Curnutte McConnell. Joe was married to Bessie Dillon for 58 years. Together they had 5 children.
Brenda married to the late Richard Brimm Jr. of Charleston, WV. They had his grandchildren Erica and Jordan who gave him great grandchildren Kiersten, Taylor, and Mollee.
Preceded in death by his son Teddy Joe McConnell the 2nd, married to Diana of Springhill Tennessee. They had his grandchildren Natalie and Marilyn who gave him great grandchildren Lauren, Christian, and Teddy Kingston.
Rhonda married to Ronald Pace of Springhill Tennessee. They had his grandchildren Amanda and Dillon, who is the father of Joe’s great granddaughter Faith.
Stephanie married to Johnny Thomas of Dinwiddie Virginia. They have him grandson Brandon.
Lisa married to Leslie Mills of Marietta, Ohio. They gave him grandchildren Joe and Lydia “his Frazzlerock.”
Joe “The Candy Man” was a faithful Christian and member of the Church of Christ. A former Deacon of the Riverview Michigan Church of Christ. Joe was a member of Iron Workers Union Local 25. He is known for his sense of humor and nicknames for people. Joe loved to tell stories and loved being surrounded by his grandchildren. Joe enjoyed draft horses, bluegrass, and George Jones music. He quietly helped many people and had a special heart for children. He loved reading western stories and especially his Bible.
He and Bess moved to this area in 2005 with the goal of spending more time with his family, God blessed them with 8 beautiful years. He made special friends here, but one stood out, Roger Jones of Williamstown. They traveled and went to horse auctions together. Joe became Roger’s farm manager and enjoyed caring for draft horses once again.
Joe had nine siblings and all but one special brother Jim McConnell of Cranesville West Virginia preceded him in death.
Joe sweetly and with resolve stated more than once “I have had an 80 year run and that’s pretty good. I am looking forward to a new body and finally meeting my Maker!” On Thursday, January 30th, 2014 he went home.
