Ralph D. “Dale” Weaver

Ralph D. “Dale” Weaver, 91, of Marietta passed away on Wednesday, June 20, 2018. He was born June 3, 1927, in Warren Township “Gravel Bank” Marietta, Ohio, to Howard & Gladys Holland Weaver.
Dale was employed at the Airolite Company, retiring in March of 1991, with over 36 years of employment. He was a Veteran serving in the U.S. Army during World War II from 1945 until 1947 & was a lifetime member of the VFW Post 5108.
Dale enjoyed deer hunting, gardening along with tinkering around with antique cars & showing his 29 Model A & 41 Ford in car shows. Everyone that knew him, knew he had one speed, “Slow & Steady” will win the race, & he proved that to us many times in the last years of his life. If he was determined to do something, he found a way to do it, he gave it his all & never gave up.
On Sept, 16, 1968, he married Mary Anna (Allen) Higgins and became a parent of three kids at the same time. He was preceded in death by Mary on Jan. 15, 2006. He is survived by his daughter Rhena (Steve) Westbrook of Marietta, granddaughters, Misty (Brady) Malone of Beloit, Wl and Ashley (Dustin) Cline of Waterford, OH. A son Rusty (Kimberly) Higgins of Marietta, granddaughters, Jessie Jo (Brad) Arnold of Uniontown, PA and Casey Jo Higgins of Marietta. Great grandchildren, Tyler & Emma Cline & Kelton Arnold. A half-brother Allen (Cheryl) Weaver of Marietta. Several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his Parents, Howard & Gladys – Wife, Mary -Son, Ronnie Higgins – Brother, Chester Weaver – Sister, Hazel Weaver Curtis & Twin infant Brothers, Harold & Darold.

Funeral services will be held Saturday (June 23) at 10:00 am at McClure-Schafer-Lankford Funeral Home with Hospice Chaplain Ronald Calvert officiating with burial following at the Gravel Bank Cemetery with full military honors. Family will greet friends at the funeral home Friday 2-4 and 6-8. Messages of sympathy may be sent at lankfordfh.com.
