Lorraine France Bonnette

Lorraine France Bonnette, age 92, of Marietta, passed away peacefully at her home on Thursday,December 2, 2010. 

She was born Nov 21, 1918 to the late Henry and Mary Bryan. She graduated from Wirt County High School in 1936. On Nov. 18,1938 she married Virgil B. Bonnette. She loved her flowers. In the spring she loved planting flowers around her house and they bloomed beautifully for the season. Her specialty was making quilts and she enjoyed quilting and piecing them. She always had a jigsaw puzzle on her table to work and a crossword puzzle book nearby.
She was devoted to her church and her church family.  She attended and served in various capacities at the First Church of the Nazarene. She served as a steward, Sunday school teacher and faithful member for many years. Later in her life she attended the Harmar Hill Chapel.

Lorraine is survived by four children, Lowell and his wife Charlene, Roger and his wife, Kathy, Jeanette, Edwin and son-in -law, Ernie Husarik. She is also survived by grandchildren, Jennifer Husarik Lawson, Amy Husarik Varnish, Ellen Bonnette McVicar, Joseph Starkey, Janis Starkey Doak, Ethan Bonnette and Emily Bonnette. She was great grandmother to Abby DiSabato, Santino DiSabato, Lewk Varnish, Faith Varnish, Nathan McVicar, Lucas McVicar, Taylor Starkey, Wyatt Lawson and Braun Doak. Each one of her grandchildren held a special place in her heart and she was so proud of each one. One only needed to sit with her a short while and you would see pictures and hear great stories. She also is survived by many nieces and nephews that meant so much to her.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Virgil, daughter, Ann, and son-in-law, John Starkey. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Gilbert Bryan, and sisters, Doris Hylbert and Gertrude Caltrider.

The family would like to express deep appreciation to her caregivers, Pam, Doris, Lois, Sandy, and Bethany. They helped to make her last days comfortable and happy.

The family request that donations be made to the Marietta Memorial Hospice and Home Nursing Service. Lorraine's funeral service will be held on Monday (December 6th) at 1:00pm at Gilman United Methodist Church with Reverend Karl Kesselring and Reverend Melvin Conley officiating.  Burial will follow in East Lawn Memorial Park.  Friends may call at McClure-Schafer-Lankford Funeral Home on Sunday after 2:00 pm with family present from 2-4 & 6-8 and at the church one hour before the service.
