Kathleen Godsey
Kathleen Godsey, 92, of Marietta, passed away on Wednesday (Oct. 26, 2011) at Mt. Carmel West Hospital in Columbus.
She was born on Jan. 9, 1919, in Somerset, Ky., the daughter of Louis and Mattie Girdler Roysdon. She had been employed several years at Marietta College and was a homemaker, loving mother and grandmother. Kathleen was a wonderful cook and was known for her homemade pies. She was a member of Faith United Methodist Church, Order of Eastern Star Lowell Chapter 272 and Order of White Shrine of Jerusalem #12.
On Dec. 23, 1939, she married Elbert R. Godsey who preceded her in death on Sept. 11, 2003.
Mrs. Godsey is survived by one daughter, Phyllis (William) Brown of Westerville; three sons, Kenneth (Jayne) Godsey of Westerville, Steven (Sherol) Godsey of Medina and John Edward (Peggy) of Marietta; 11 grandchildren, Matthew Brown, Pamela Brown Staffen, Melissa Godsey Adam, T. J. Godsey, Ben Godsey, Justin Godsey, Brianna Godsey Funk, Cris Godsey, Craig Godsey, Michael Tanner and Travis Tanner; and 20 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother Carl Roysdon of New Castle, Ind..
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; four brothers, Homer, Hershel, Eugene and Junior Roysdon and sister Virginia Flynn
Funeral services will be held on Saturday (Oct. 29) at 11 a.m. at McClure-Schafer-Lankford Funeral Home with Reverend Mike Newlon officiating. Entombment will follow at East Lawn Memorial Park.
