John R. Schlotterbeck, Jr.

John R. Schlotterbeck, Jr. 70, of Marietta passed away at 8:30 pm, Friday, January 24, 2020, at Marietta Memorial Hospital. He was born July 18,1949 in Piqua, Ohio, a son of John R. “Ray” Schlotterbeck, Sr. and Minta Ann Haney Schlotterbeck.
John was a graduate of Marietta High School, Class of 1967. He was employed by O. Ames Company in Parkersburg as a Chrome Plating Inspector. He was a member of Norwood Methodist Church. He was a veteran of the U. S. Army serving during the Vietnam era, a member of American Legion Post 64, District Color Guard and Sergeant at Arms, lifetime member of VFW Post 5108 serving on funeral detail and flag raising at College football games and a member of Masonic Lodge #1. Enjoyed Pioneer baseball and basketball games.
On September 15, 1973, he married Florence Biggs who survives with son John Ray III, 2 daughters, Armindia Schaad and Juanita Schlotterbeck; 3 grandchildren Annmarie, Layne and Kara; 2 sisters, Nancy (Harry) Congdon and Shirley (Bradley) Tamplin and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday (Jan. 29) at 2:00 pm at McClure-Schafer-Lankford Funeral Home with Pastor Charles “Skip” Domigan with burial following in East Lawn Memorial Park with military rites.
