Marilyn June Carrel

Marilyn June Carrel, 65, of Marietta died 10:55am, April 13, 2020 at Selby Hospital. She was born in Marietta on April 12, 1955 to the late Lawrence Jefferson and Genevieve (Starkey) Carrel. Marilyn was a 1973 graduate of Marietta High School and had worked as a receptionist for 45 years for Drs. Powell and Stickrath and continued on working for Drs. Danford and Tilton and later for Drs. Danford, Heiner and Johnson. Marilyn loved camping, working in her yard especially in her garden, and cooking. She was a member of the 6th and Washington Street Church of Christ.

Surviving are her brothers David J. Carrel of Marietta and Larry C. Carrel (Melody) of Williamstown and her special friend of 43 years Nellie Ruby of Marietta.

According to her wishes Marilyn will be cremated and no services will be observed. Memorial contributions may be made in her honor to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.

The family would like to thank all of the doctors, nurses and staff who helped take care of Marilyn at Strecker Cancer Center, Marietta Memorial Hospital, Marietta Hospice and Selby Hospital.
